U10A clinch League and Cup Double

Double Winners is a rare occurrence at any level and we have now set the bar for other BIS teams to follow and for ourselves to achieve in the future. Fred McFadden quote.

Match report: BIS A 3 Al Azhar 1

Scorers: Kiran Ross 1 Charlie McFadden 1 Jeremy Hillock 1

Team: Berkhout, Gibney, Rowe, Boyce, Ross, Hillock, Tjahaja, Broadfoot, McFadden, McKerrow, Benmaamar

The BIS A boys finished a perfect 12 for 12 season with a strong performance in the Greenfields Cup Final beating a very good Al Azhar team by 3-1.

The team had a new starting line up to it with the loss of Shimpei back home to Japan we played young “maestro” John Broadfoot who gave a great non stop performance in right side midfield with the outstanding Jeremy Hillock and the skill, energy and control of Shawn Tjahaja on the left side the 3 midfielders played all 48 minutes of a fast paced pulsating final in searing heat and high pressure. They never stopped working and were the foundation of the win.

The game started at a fast pace and BIS took the lead after 5 minutes after a corner kick was cleared by the Al Azhar defence out to the ever alert defender Kiran Ross who quickly controlled the ball before firing an unstoppable right foot shot from distance into the back of the net for his 4th but most important goal of the season.

BIS were dominating the game with Ablai McKerrow and Charlie McFadden running wide and deep to open up the defence and it was only a matter of time before Charlie McFadden scored another big goal by reacting brilliantly in the box and shooting firmly home from inside the box, a typical strikers goal. Charlie made another mazy run which was just stopped by a desperate Al Azhar defence.

Q1 2-0 to BIS

Q2 saw Al Azhar start to find their feet and they pushed forward putting us under pressure with young Kevin Gibney in the thick of things in defence working hard to close down the attacks. Al Azhar then pulled a goal back with a strong shot from outside the box which just managed to beat Giys Berkhout at his left hand post.

Ilyas Benmaamar was having a great game with his pace and power creating several openings for BIS to score a 3rd goal but the quarter still ended 2-1 to BIS.

The third quarter saw us get back on top and our defence of William Boyce, Rijal Rowe and Kiran Ross showed their class and growing maturity as a defensive unit by safely closing out any Al Azhar threats to goal.

Giys Berkhout in goal again displayed his “Van Der Sar” skills with some great saves and safe handling and kicking, Giys has really shone in goal during the latter part of the season and commands his penalty box with cool authority.

Q4. Despite our dominance we desperately needed a 3 rd goal to clinch the Cup. The two “Supermacs” Ablai and Charlie tried to work their magic up front and again chances were made and lost and at the other end Giys had to make a brave save to prevent the game going to penalty kicks.

The crucial goal finally came in the final minute when the ball broke out of defence to Rijal Rowe who struck a beautiful long range pass over the top of the out coming Al Azhar defence were Jeremy Hillock who had covered almost every blade of grass on the field leading the team popped up from nowhere to bravely head the ball over the top of the onrushing keeper to clinch a well deserved win and the cup 3-1 for BIS.

This was a fantastic achievement from the team who worked tirelessly and unselfishly all season, our success was based on great teamwork which produced a will to win in our boys that was remarkable for boys so relatively young, we gave no quarter when up against it, never gave up fighting for the ball and played beautiful football at times while at the same time we showed great understanding and sportsmanship in games against lesser teams.

History is made! Our boys will always have this treasured memory (even on DVD)

Double Winners is a rare occurrence at any level and we have now set the bar for other BIS teams to follow and for ourselves to achieve in the future.

A proud day for everyone involved with the team and our supporters certainly made themselves very well heard during the intensity of the final game.

BIS U 10 wins Greenfield Cup

It was a memorable day yesterday, 1 May, for the BIS U 10 football team when it beat Al Zahar 3-1 to win the Greenfield Cup in the Jaklarta Schools Football League. Congratulations to Al Zahar for pushing BIS until the final whistle, and for their sportsman-like approach to the game.

Ealier on, 13 March, BIS U10A clinched the Coca Cola league championship with a deserved 6-3 win over JIS A, so yesterday the team received medals and trophies for both victories.

Thanks to all the boys, officials and parents who made this such an exciting season of football. But special thanks to Fred McFadden and Peter Hillock for their outstanding coaching. This Yin-Yang combination was a winner with Fred's passion, commitment, drive, organisational and motivational skills, at times a little fiery.  balanced against Peter's analytical mind, warm and encouraging approach.
Both shared a common, agreed strategic approach What an amazing comnination. See photos below provided by Stuart and Michelle Boyce of yesterday's game and celebrations. Hasn't it been exciting to be part of this strong and commited team ? Bob.

Match Report: BIS U10A V SD Al Fath Score 5-1

Greenfields Cup Semi -Final

Team:
Jeremy Hillock ( Capt), Charlie McFadden, Rijal Rowe, Ablai McKerrow, Shawn Tjahaja, Kiran Ross, William Boyce, Gijs Berkhout, John Broadfoot, Shimpei Kameyama, Ilyes Benmaamar, Kevin Gibney,

Goalscorers: Charlie McFadden 1. Jeremy Hillock 1. Kiran Ross 1. John Broadfoot 1. Own Goal 1

BIS A U10 continued their impressive season by clinching a spot in the Greenfields Cup final with a semi final win V SD Al Fath.

This was a tough at times physical game with Al Fath pushing BIS all the way in an entertaining game.

This was also a sad day for BIS who had Shimpei Kameyama playing his last game for the school as he returns back to Japan this week. Shimpei has been outstanding on the right side of midfield all season and will be a big loss to the team for the cup final with his great runs and energy.

Charlie McFadden started the ball rolling with a snapshot from close range that was diverted in by an Al Fath defender. Soon after defender Kiran Ross scored a wonder goal with a thunderous strike from a full 25 metres out that gave the keeper no chance.

Al Fath kept pushing and pulled a goal back after some frantic play inside the BIS penalty box they shot home past Gijs Berkhout from close range.

The BIS defence needed to stand firm with Rijal Rowe and Kiran Ross outstanding and William Boyce and Kevin Gibney making some great tackles. Gijs Berkhout in goal made some brave saves under pressure.

The second half started with BIS taking control of the midfield with Jeremy Hillock covering almost every blade of grass on the pitch and with Shawn Tjahaja and Shimpei working hard on the flanks BIS started to dominate.. The third goal finally came from John Broadfoot who scored with a crisp follow up shot after Ablai McKerrow had shown some of his magic in the box and had his strong shot saved by the overworked Al Fath keeper. to put BIS 3-1 up.
Ilyes Benmaamar continues to improve each week with some great running and was unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions. The next goal was an individual effort from Captain Jeremy Hillock who beat three men down the left side of the penalty box before firing across the keeper into the bottom corner to seal the game for BIS. Charlie McFadden scored the final goal with some quick control on the edge of the box and a strong shot into the top corner for his 17th goal of the season.

Not our best display as Al Fath knocked us out of our rhythm at times but again we showed great team spirit and a high work rate and we still managed to score some excellent goals.

Goodbye to SHIMPEI, gone but never forgotten.

BIS will now play Al Azhar in a much anticipated Greenfields Cup Final.

Into the finals of the Greenfield Cup - Goodbye Shimpei !

BIS Under 10 Red had a 5 to 1 win over Al Fath today, which now places them in the final of the Greenfield's cup. Al Fath gave BIS a run for their money, and showed they are a team of the future.

Today was Shimpei's game. This is his last game before returning to Japan, and Shimpei Kameyama showed his class again, and as Fred said to his dad at the end of the match, "When he plays for Japan, please send the transfer fees to BIS."
On behalf of all your team mates, Peter and Fred, thank you for your great contribution to Under 10 football in Jakarta, Shimpei.

Thanks to Stuart Boyce for the excellent photos posted here.
